This page explains who owns what across Shai’s mobile app, web app, and website, what you may do with it, and how to tell us if you believe something on Shai infringes your copyright.
The Shai app and site
The Shai mobile app, this web app, our marketing website, and everything that makes them work — the code, the design, the layouts, the icons and illustrations we made ourselves, and the way features are put together — are owned by Shai or licensed to Shai, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property law. Using the product doesn’t give you any ownership in it. You may not copy, decompile, scrape, or redistribute the app or site outside of using them the way they’re intended to be used.
The Shai name and mark
“Shai” and the Shai logo are trademarks of Shai. You can refer to Shai by name to talk about the product — a review, a screenshot, a link — but you may not use the Shai name or logo in a way that suggests your business, app, or account is Shai, is run by Shai, or is officially endorsed by Shai, without asking us first.
Content you create
Questions, answers, voice recordings, and anything else you send through Shai stay yours. You keep ownership of it. What you grant Shai, by sending it through the product, is a limited license to store it, transmit it to the other person in the conversation, and display it back to both of you — that’s the license that makes the product work at all, and it goes away when the content is deleted. Shai doesn’t claim ownership of your questions or answers, sell them, or use them to train anything.
Expert profile content
If you’re an expert, your bio, cover photo, specialties, and rates are yours. Applying to become an expert grants Shai a license to display that profile publicly on the marketplace — on the app, the web app, and in search results within the product — for as long as your profile is live. Taking your profile down (or having your account closed) ends that license; it doesn’t retroactively give Shai any rights beyond what was already shown while the profile was public.
Third-party material
Some images, icons, and fonts on the app and site are licensed from third parties or used under open-source terms rather than created by Shai. Those stay the property of their respective owners under their own licenses; nothing here changes that.
Reporting infringement
If you believe something on Shai — an expert’s profile photo, a piece of copy, an image on the website — infringes your copyright, email hello@shaiet.app with:
- What the copyrighted work is, and where you believe it’s infringed (a link or a description of where it appears in the app).
- Your contact information.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn’t authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you’re the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
We review every report and remove or disable access to material we determine is infringing. Shai is a small, early-stage product and doesn’t yet have a registered DMCA agent on file with the U.S. Copyright Office — email is the real way to reach us about this today, and we’ll act on a well-founded report whether or not it follows the formal notice format above.
Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake — it’s not infringing, or you have the rights to use it — email the same address with an explanation and your contact information. We’ll review it and restore the content if the removal doesn’t hold up.
Changes to this page
If we materially change who owns what or how we handle infringement reports, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
